Seahouses, Ross Sands and Alnwick

Today was to be a trip going north of the campsite and so the first town we arrived at was Seahouses where we parked for an hour just to have a look around. We walked down to the harbour …

and we could see the Farne Islands which are where all the boat trips were going out to …

Seahouses used to have a railway and we were parked where the sidings used to be …

From here the road took us to Bamburgh where the Castle dominates the skyline …

We just took photos as we passed by and didn’t go inside …

We were now looking for a coffee spot and in no time at all we came to Budle Bay …

It was a shame that the tide was out but it made a handy stopping place. We now took to minor roads and found ourselves at Ross where we parked and began the trek to Ross Sands. After negotiating the dunes …

we walked through a gap and found the most magical beach with hardly a soul in sight …

The water looked so inviting that I just had to paddle …

We all loved it …

We really didn’t want to leave but our stomachs were telling us that lunch was overdue and so we walked back to the RV. After eating lovely fresh rolls which we’d bought on the campsite we made our way back to the A1 and headed towards Alnwick. We needed a superstore and I wanted to try and get a photo or two of the Castle (Hogwarts). Dogs are not allowed in any of the grounds and as it was such a hot day we didn’t want to leave Hamish in the RV so even a tour of the Gardens was out of the question. The Castle was too expensive for us so we’d no intention of going in there hence the need for a photo. Mike took us through the arch in the town …

and turned off in the hopes of finding a glimpse …

but then as we left Alnwick I spotted the Castle and he parked on the grass so I could run back and take these …

Shame you dodn't get to see inside the castle, but looks like a cracking day
