Mt Edgcumbe Experience!

Well it's the last car show for this year and it's ended with a wet one! We left home with the top up as we'd heard it was raining in Redruth but the journey was done mostly in the dry. However as we approached Mt Edgcumbe the sky was looking decidedly iffey! It was all hands to the pump, the Stand was erected in record time and it was a good job too because it wasn't long before the rain arrived.

With umbrella at the ready we went off for a wander around the car boot stalls as Mike wanted a couple of tools for use on Crocus. He found two hammers - a his and hers apparently! I can see I shall be learning new skills! This is the house on the top of the hill ...

and at the far end of the car booters you have this lovely view over the river ...

We also had a stroll around the cars on show and here is a selection. The first, an Austin 7 Sport, being owned by one of our 5 members. His wife drove the 5 to our Stand and he was on the Austin Stand. Mike even got to have a short drive in it...

We'd taken Hamish with us this time and he was so good despite all the crowds and the grotty weather. All this walking around is thirsty work! ...

The worst part of the Show is the getting out at the end of the day. We sat for ages waiting to be let out and with the rain hammering down, the organisers were frantically putting down straw in the gateway so that we could drive up the slight slope to the road ...
