The first job for this morning was to ring the hospital and try to find out how Pam was today. They said that she'd had a comfortable night but were not sure if she was infectious and we thought it best if Mike didn't visit as he'd just recently had the operation on his eyes. His sister was away for the weekend but would look in on her this evening on her way home.
Harbour Fun Day was beginning to gain momentum with stands being erected on the car park and thankfully the weather was being kind as the sun was shining today. Jo and Paul arrived and we set up a table on our verandah hoping to sell some of Jo's cards and also Pam's paintings. After a pasty lunch provided by Jo and Paul we sat out waiting for the crowds to flock to our house! Jo sold a card and we got quite excited then somebody had a mooch through the paintings but unfortunately that was the sole purchase of the afternoon!! Oh well we have big plans for next year! We went off for a wander around the harbour but I don't think Hamish was too impressed at being left behind ...
Samba Celtica were playing ...
and when we reached the far end of the harbour we saw the hawk and owl from Gwel an Mor ...
There were also toads ...
and voles ...
and some skeletons ...
Jo spotted a snake which had me leaving at ninety miles an hour - I don't 'do' snakes! However she managed to get me back close enough to take a photo of her touching one - yuk!
The tide was now in and it was time to look out for the swimmers who'd raced around from the beach. Here is the winner just climbing the steps ...
Then it was Raft Race time ...
This is always good fun as people stand on the pinch with eggs and bags of flour ...
The team from Portreath Garden Machinery won again this year ...
and the bathtub just about made it home before sinking ...
Everyone had a great day and when it began to rain we were just very thankful that it was the end of the afternoon before it arrived.
