Day Trip to the Lizard

During the big catch-up on news last night the decision was made that Paul needed time away from building the new kitchen and so we'd have a day out today and head for The Lizard on the look-out for a restored chapel somewhere in St Anthony-in-Meneage! I know it's a large area but we had to start somewhere so we went to St Anthony itself and stopped in the car park ...

No - it definitely wasn't here! After studying the map we suggested going to Helford and have a walk down to the Ferry and maybe we'd get some inspiration as to where the chapel could be. As we pulled into the car park there was a shout from Jo on the walkie-talkie! The chapel had been found as it was the cafe at the entrance ...

We had a lovely walk ...

all the way to where the Ferry calls ...

and back again ...

It was then lunch-time so we used the picnic table and after eating we planned the afternoon drive ...

We headed off towards Manaccan and then went via some really narrow lanes until we reached the main Culdrose to St Keverne road. Hamish tried to help with the map reading ...

but he was more of a hindrance! Ruan Minor was our destination on the way to Cadgwith ...

Such a pretty little place and they'd never been there before. It was then a fairly straightforward route to Kynance Cove ...

The dogs could stretch their legs on the walk down to the Beach Cafe ...

and we stopped for a few good shots on the way ...

What else could we have when we reached the Cafe but a cream tea ...

A lot of the slates on the roof had been replaced by solar ones ...

What a brilliant idea! Before making the long trek back to the cars we paid a visit to the loos and this was the poster on the door ...

Jo had hysterics when I told her I'd photographed it but I thought it was really interesting!! As we went up the hill we passed over a cattle grid and both Hamish and Fred were quite intelligent and walked around the side ...

Once back up it was water time for Hamish ...

and we posed by our car for a new photo for the MX-5 Cornwall website ...

We left Kynance and returned home via Mullion and Poldhu ...

Fred was enjoying having the top down when we got caught at some traffic lights ...

It was a lovely day out and we vowed we must do it again some time soon.
