Eleven cars met at Treasure Park near Portreath for a run to Country Skittles at Townshend near Hayle.
We set off through Portreath and along the coast road to Hayle with the sun blazing down and it was great.
From Hayle we headed off on the road to St Ives but after passing the estuary where the tide was out ...
and over to the best road in Cornwall!
The St Ives to St Just road is just perfect for a sports car on a sunny day.
The view is spectacular and the twisty road makes it interesting for the driver.
We didn't go all the way along the road to St Just but left it to make our way through Newmill and over towards Penzance. Before reaching the coast we went through Gulval and as we climbed out of the valley looking back we could see the south coast ...
on through Nancledra and past the engine house ...
heading back towards St Ives ...
It was then back to Hayle and on to Country Skittles where we all parked up.
At this point we left the group and while they went in for lunch and a game of skittles, we came home for Hamish.
Arriving back in Portreath - what better sight than this ...

Lovely pictures and great scenery, looking forward to my next visit down, tho I think it clashes with you as I had booked 6th June onwards.. Managed to watch Julia Bradbury doing a tv programme on railway walks using the tram road at Portreath and then the Redruth/Chasewater railway to Devoran on the South Coast - she definitely didn't have the sort of weather you did.
We were so lucky because we woke to rain the next morning! Sorry we'll miss you but hope you have a great holiday.
Super pictures, and text, Sally-Ann. Makes me feel quite "homesick".
Still, I'm not complaining - "Home is where our boat is" - and Chester looked lovely this afternoon, despite the need for our old camera!
