A Night at the Ballet

When Jo suggested going to see Coppelia at the Hall for Cornwall I got very excited! It is ages since I last went to the Ballet and Coppelia has got to be one of my favourites.

As a child I began dancing as it was suggested that it would 'bring me out' and stop me being so shy! I worked my way through all my exams and along the way I won a Scholarship to the Royal Academy of Dancing which meant that every Saturday my mother and I would travel from Brighton to London by train for a lesson. As we lived so far away I could only have one lesson a week while those who were nearer were able to attend the two lessons on offer. This weekly event continued for two years until I failed the end of year exam. I think it was quite a relief as it had taken over our lives but my parents never complained - bless them. I carried on with my dancing in Brighton and still entered the Music Festivals and did the Shows with my School but have always wondered what if ...

So it was really lovely to be able to sit and watch all these young ladies and little children thoroughly enjoying their time on stage and living the dream that I had once had. We had a great evening and well done to the Duchy Ballet for putting on such an enjoyable performance.

We can't wait to see what Ballet they will be doing next year but one thing is certain - both Jo and I will be there on one of the evenings!
