A Special Day

If my father had been alive he would have been celebrating his 100th birthday today. The weather was foul but we went over to Constantine church ...

to take some flowers ...

When my parents were alive they lived in Gweek so we had a 'birthday' lunch in the pub there and had a drink for him. Happy 100th Daddy xx

The Big Six-O!

It is a very significant date today!

I can now travel for free on the bus and I can draw my pension! Yuk – I feel ancient!

However I’ve had a fantastic weekend with Mike and my boys and while out for a meal on Saturday evening with family and friends I was presented with tickets to see Strictly Come Dancing – The Live Tour 2009 at Wembley!! How cool is that??!! Roll on February – I can’t wait! Maybe turning 60 is not so bad after all! Thank you so much Jamie, Simon and Phill.

The day has made me a trifle nostalgic and so I found this card which was sent to my parents back in 1948 welcoming me into the world …

and this is a photo of me in my pram at the tender age of four months - ah!

From that to this …

in 60 short years!

Mike asked me what I'd like to do today and as it was a sunny morning I said I would like to go to Godrevy for a walk and to see the seals. The beach was very busy ...

and the lighthouse was as good as ever ...

The sun was shining over St Ives and the sea and the rocks below looked lovely ...

On our way back we climb over this sort of stile made of stone ...

to be greeted by the sign telling us how far it is to get home!

It was cold and breezy but certainly blew the cobwebs away.

Home for lunch and a piece of birthday cake ...

Our doorbell has been constantly ringing but luckily we remembered to buy some sweets today.

Visiting Fives

Three MX-5's from the North Thames Area were in Cornwall this weekend and seven Cornish cars hosted a run for them today. We took them on the drive we did back in the Spring as our Easter Egg Run. Unfortunately the weather was against us this morning as we all gathered in the rain at Treasure Park near Redruth ...

We made our way along the North Coast to Hayle and then crossed the county until we reached Marazion where we had a stop for coffee at the car park by Jordans Cafe ...

Luckily it had stopped raining by now so I got a shot of St Michaels Mount complete with passing seagull!

After a short break we made our way towards Penzance and then crossed back over to the North Coast again and headed for St Ives. After arriving at the Tyringham Arms which was the scheduled lunch stop, we found out that they were not expecting us just yet so Mike and Sharon led us on a jaunt into St Ives itself where we brought the town to a standstill as ten of us drove in convoy through the narrow streets! Great!

A bit crooked but snapped out of the window ...

Past the Tate ...

It was then back to the pub for a carvery lunch, a good chinwag with the fivers and then back to our car ...

and home to see Hamish.

That Sinking Feeling!

When we got home and looked out of our front window this is what we saw ...

There was quite a swell in the harbour and the backlash from the wall had swamped Georgielee ...

There was also talk of a seal being in the outer harbour so naturally with camera in hand I went to have a look.

There it was ...

The sea was quite dramatic too ...

Falmouth in the Sunshine

We had to pop over to Falmouth today to get some paint for Crocus from Trago ...

and to order some wood for her from Woodstock. It was a hood up journey over but the sun came out while we were having a coffee and the harbour looked lovely ...

There was even a boat just below us that was named after me!

Truro Today

After having a coffee in The Lounge we were walking back towards the town and I just looked over a little bridge and saw this ...

A peaceful bit of river amongst the busy traffic of a city.

On the way home we called in at Pets at Home to collect some herbal tablets for Hamish as he absolutely HATES fireworks. They are Scullcap and Valerian tablets - will let you know if they work after Bonfire Night. Whilst in the shop I saw this ...

and couldn't resist it! An Advent Calendar for Hamish!
