Boxing Day

A dry morning thankfully and so we all set off for Carn Brea to watch the Four Burrow Hunt meet at 11am. It was a good walk up the track ...

but by the time we'd reached the top the sky was beginning to look a bit ominous and we just knew that at some time soon the rain would be upon us.

We made our way to the Castle and stood tucked in on the lee side so that when it began to rain we were quite protected and we could see all that was happening below ...

The hounds were wandering about and making friends with all the other dogs and children ...

Then who should we spot but Milo and his family so both Fred and Hamish said hello again ...

Not sure that Hamish was too keen on all the hanging about ...

but eventually they all moved off ...

and we could see them below us ...

The rain had cleared by now and so we all walked back down to the car and then it was off to Jo's for some yummy cake and a coffee.

Christmas Day

After several days of Hamish sniffing his stocking and knowing that there was something interesting for him waiting there we finally allowed him to rip open his presents ...

He had several soft toys and a bag of goodies to eat but it was one particular toy - a bear - which took his fancy. It was carried round to Grandma's to show her and then constantly attacked until it squeaked no more! Poor little bear has lost his voice but is still loved and woe betide anyone who tries to pick it up!

The weather was glorious today and so when Jo and Paul came over late morning we took the boys to the beach for a Christmas Day romp. They both had a bit of tinsel on ...

There were a few people down there and one family attracted us as they had a little 15-week old miniature Schnauzer called Milo ...

Both boys wanted to say hello to him although Fred wasn't keen to wade through the water to get to him ...

The sea looked fabulous ...

After lunch we settled down to watch another of my all time favourite films - 'White Christmas'

Christmas Eve

We spent a very lazy afternoon watching 'South Pacific' on the television and singing along to all the familiar songs. If there's one thing you can guarantee at Christmas-time the programming will be full of old films!

We'd arranged to spend the evening at Jo and Paul's and she'd cooked a lovely spaghetti bolognese and we took a toffee pavlova for dessert. It was then time to watch Victoria Wood and she was brilliant. Her Show ended with her classic song which she'd brought up-to-date with a few changes but she'd kept my favourite line at the end where she beats you on the bottom with a Womans Weekly! Hamish had come with us and both boys had settled down with Jo ...

after cadging a couple treats from her ...

What a great start to the Festivities.

Merry Christmas Everybody!

You'll recognise Hamish and Ozzie and the new addition is Mercury who is staying with Jamie and Phill.

They, Mike and I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year xx

Afternoon Stroll

It's been ages since Jo and I have got together as she's been really poorly so when she rang and suggested a stroll on the beach with the dogs there was no hesitation in saying yes. We wrapped up warm and after popping over to Mel's to deliver a card and pressie and see the last of her turkeys sitting on the table all plucked and ready, we made our way down to the beach. There was so much to catch up on we didn't stop nattering! The dogs had a lovely time and as there were only a few people down there they had a good romp about.

The cuppa we had when we got back home was very welcome to thaw us out!

Falmouth - Eventually!

A nice dry morning and we had to stay in and wait for a parcel to be delivered! Amazingly it arrived at a reasonable time which meant we could make use of the good weather and headed off to Falmouth. On the way we diverted to Mylor Bridge where we'd left Crocus's bowsprit back in the summer. We'd been recommended to take it to the Gaffers and Luggers Boatyard where we'd ordered a new one to be made identical to the old one but in different wood so it would match her spars. While Mike went off to find a chap called Sam I took a couple of photos as it is so pretty here and the tide was in which made it perfect ...

Unfortunately Sam was ensconsed in his office on the telephone so in the end we gave up waiting and decided to ring him another day. The next stop was at Macsalvors in Penryn where we wanted to look at lifejackets. With VAT due to go back up again in the new year we thought it might be a good idea to get them now and we did. Result! We finally arrived in Falmouth, parked up and headed for Trago Mills. After a wander around the town we returned via the car park on the quay - Fish Strand Quay ...

Looking towards the docks ...

A Falmouth seagull obliged by sitting still ...

We then walked up past the Bosun's Locker ...

Bought pasties on our way back to the car and drove up to Pendennis Point to eat them.

There was quite a bit of interest in the oil-rig which was offshore ...

Harbour Sights

It's a miserable Monday morning, still blowing but not raining, so I took Hamish for a stroll round the harbour to see if anything was happening worth photographing. Looking across to the Waterfront Inn ...

I climbed the steps to the look-out and there in the sea was a lone surfer ...

Unfortunately he refused to surf for me preferring to just ride out the waves ...

There were a few nice waves crashing into the harbour arm ...

The beach was deserted ...

and Hamish kept looking back down the steps asking if it was time to move on ...

The boats have all been surrounded by fencing this winter as added security ...
