New Exhaust!

Last Saturday whilst Mike was cleaning the car ready for the run on Sunday - the end of our exhaust fell off!

We'd bought a new one from MX-5 Parts this time last year when we went to the National Event of the MX-5 Owners Club and it has been living in its box under the spare bed. Paul had offered to fit it for us but we'd never got around to finding the time between us - until now when it suddenly became desperate! Yesterday afternoon we drove up to Jo and Paul's place and after a lot of banging (and probably swearing!) it was done.

We took the old one to the tip today ...

and look how smart the car is now ...

Thank you, thank you Paul. It looks and sounds great!

Birthday Boy!

Happy Birthday Hamish!

My boy is five years old today and we bought him a little treat this morning ...

It was all gone in a flash!

Seals at Gweek

Today was an MX-5 run which was to end up at the National Seal Sanctuary at Gweek where we had arranged a group booking for the Club.

Thirteen cars turned up at Truro Football ground for a 10.30am start. We began with a narrow lane and it was almost the cause of our day ending there and then! As we drove down the lane with our headlights on and 12 cars following, a lady was coming towards us much too fast and she only just managed to stop before smashing into us. She backed up and said sorry but the heart-rate was well increased!

Thankfully the rest of the drive to our coffee stop was incident free and we arrived safely at the car park for the Argal Dams ...

The next leg of our journey took us along the Helford River where we got occasional glimpses of the river (or should I say - mud!).
It's a pretty road but we were keeping our fingers crossed that we didn't meet any cars on the very narrow bits and we were lucky today. We drove on through Gweek to the Grange Fruit Farm where we had booked lunch and we ate far too much! It was then a simple drive back down into Gweek and to the Seal Sanctuary where we all parked our precious cars in the over-spill car park ... We arrived at the pools just as the 2pm talk and feeding session began ...
After watching the seals we walked down to Otter Creek where these two little chaps live ...
Here are a selection of the many photos I took today ...

Homeward Bound

After just one night at California Cross (where the television reception was lousy and we couldn't use our 3 dongle to access the internet!) we left quite early ...

and made our way towards Plymouth via Modbury ...

crossing Plymouth Sound ...

and then reaching the Tamar Bridge ...

where we saw the welcoming sight ...

Nearly home!

Off to Devon

Another bright start to the day and this morning we were joined by some ducks looking for breakfast ...

One of the females had lost a foot and was hobbling around on just a stump but she was obviously very used to being disabled and got as much bread from me as the rest of them!

We were only going as far as Devon today and this was the view as we passed over the the river at Exeter ...

Finally arriving at California Cross Camping and Caravanning Club Site where we were given a nice pitch at the lower end of the site ...
