Weekend in Surrey

With the RV parked up we spent a lovely weekend with Simon, Vikki and Sara. On Saturday morning we went with Simon to find the grandchildren as Jack was playing football and it was Cameron's 9th birthday. It was a pitch that Simon hadn't been to before so we drove around searching for it but finally arrived. Cameron was feeling a bit under the weather which was a shame but he opened his cards and presents with gusto! When the match ended there were big hugs all round with the kids and then they had to leave and we took Hamish for a walk before driving over to the Golden Retriever pub at Bracknell. We'd had a huge cooked breakfast before we went out so none of us were very hungry and coffees sufficed before moving on to the school where Simon had a training session match in the afternoon. I can't remember the exact last time I saw my son play football but it was probably when he was in the Cubs and he's now 38!!! I couldn't believe it when he took his boots out of the bag because of the name on them ...

When the boys were little Mike used to make up bedtime stories about two boys called Nomis and Semaj (their names backwards!) and now Simon was playing footie in Nomis boots!! They were playing on astro turf but extra deep stuff which was amazing ...

It was a great fun game and I got clicking away with my camera through the fencing ...

At the end they all lined up for a group photo ...

On Sunday we had a lazy day watching tv and generally 'chilling'. It was lovely weather and so out came the barbecue with Simon as chef ...

We said all our goodbyes this evening as they would be off early to work and we might not see them again. Tomorrow we were heading for Somerset to break the journey before reaching home on Tuesday.
