It's Broke!

Well I've had the x-rays and been told that it is definitely fractured where they thought yesterday so it's off to Treliske Hospital at Truro for me tomorrow morning to see somone in the Fracture Clinic. I'm getting quite good at doing things with my left hand but I can't wait to get back to normal and this is only the second day!

Ouch!

Am writing this with my left hand as late yesterday afternoon I took a tumble, tripping on a man-hole cover and I've done a bit of damage to my right arm.
My friend Jo and my husband talked me into going to minor injuries at the local hospital this morning and a very nice lady who checked me over thinks that I've fractured the radial head of my arm. I have to go back tomorrow morning for an x-ray which will hopefully show exactly what has happened.
No wine for me tonight as I'm on painkillers :-(

Decorating Duty!

We've spent the last couple of days decorating a little house we own in Probus. We only had a few days between tenants but managed to freshen it up a bit with a quick coat of paint on the walls.

Hamish came with us of course but couldn't really understand what was happening - what is this plastic stuff all over the floor? He also had a nasty habit of sitting up against the wet walls. Thankfully they are cream so the paint on his bottom doesn't really show!

Day in Truro

Well the Easter holiday weekend is over so true to form the weather has changed for the better. A lovely warm day today after the biting winds of the last few days. The Easter Egg Hunt on Portreath beach on Easter Sunday was even cancelled which was a shame as the children were all looking forward to having a dig in the sand. Hopefully they will be lucky with the weather when it is re-scheduled on the 20th April.

Today was dentist check-up day so we had a good wander round Truro and I took this photo of the Cathedral ...

The digger was here in the harbour today shifting and removing sand which has built up over the winter.

Easter Egg Run

What a day we had today!

We run the Cornwall Area of the MX-5 Owners Club and we’d arranged an Easter Egg Run in aid of the Children’s Hospice South West. The plan was to meet at Treasure Park near Portreath where fellow ‘fivers’ would gather with their eggs and Mary Murfin from the Hospice would come to collect them. The press had been notified and the local radio stations were advertising it so we had no idea how many cars would turn up on the day. Well when we got there several cars had already arrived and they just kept on coming! Twenty-one ‘fives’ bulging with Easter eggs!

We all had our photo taken by two local papers and Mary thanked us for helping the children and explained where the eggs were going to be distributed as we don’t have a Hospice in Cornwall at the moment. There are two houses – one in North Devon and one in North Somerset – so the eggs would be taken there.

We later found out that we had collected over 120 eggs which included a donation of 50 from our local Mazda dealership in Truro. These are just a few of them which were loaded into the boot of Mary's car.

After a very welcome coffee in Treasure Park we all set off for a drive around the west of Cornwall, making our way over to Marazion and then across to the North Coast near St Ives for lunch.

People were waving and cheering as the convoy drove by – if you’ve never driven in a convoy it is a fantastic experience.

In the afternoon we worked our way back to Scorrier near Redruth where we had a cream tea and said farewell to our friends. The weather forecast had not been good but it didn't rain and the sun shone occasionally so for those of us who didn’t have hard tops on their cars we were topless all day!

First Boat In!

The crane was here this morning and the first boat has gone back in the water for this year. Hopefully the storms have all passed through and the fisherman on the cat 'Good Fortune' will be able to get out of the harbour to do his work.

Spring Tides and Gales

High tide at seven o'clock this morning and the waves were pounding the head of the harbour.

They broke over the wall and flooded the car park.

During the day we had gusts up to 80mph and so the evening high tide was even more dramatic!

Westie Walk

Today we went to Cardinham Woods, Bodmin for a Westie Walk in aid of Westie Rescue. The dogs all set off looking very clean and white but after trekking through the woods and streams it was a very different sight at the end! Poor Hamish - it was straight in the bath for him when we got home.

Gull Rock, a deserted beach and sunshine. This is Portreath beach at its best on a beautiful March morning.

Tide's Out

The tide is out at the moment but there is always a little water left behind from the last high tide.

View from Home

It's been a beautiful sunny day here today so I took this picture this afternoon from our bedroom window. It's a lovely view when the tide is in - I'm literally beside the sea!
